Introducing Exeter Chiropractor Neil Cox DC
I received my first chiropractic adjustment at the age of five when my mother noticed deterioration in my school work after I had fallen out of a tree. She mentioned this to her chiropractor who encouraged her to bring me in for a check-up. The chiropractor “worked his magic” and a few visits later I was back to normal. Today, I understand that movement of the body is closely linked to the centres of the brain that control learning, so it all makes sense. The fall had caused a problem with the movement in my spine (known as a Vertebral Subluxation Complex) and in turn my ability to learn had suffered. Since then my family has been under (fairly) regular chiropractic care, so to me chiropractic has always seemed like a natural part of staying healthy while growing up.
At the age of 17, while wondering what to do with my life – and which degree to choose to help me do it, I was lent a book by a local chiropractor called “Chiropractic First: the fastest growing healthcare choice… before drugs or surgery” by Terry Rondberg. I read the book from cover to cover in two days and knew instantly what I wanted to do! The thing that had me so excited was the philosophy that underpinned the practice of chiropractic. The philosophy simply states that we are designed to be healthy; that the body is a self healing and self regulating system and that as long as the requirements for health are met and that the system is not interfered with, then health is the inevitable result.
Being a chiropractor gives me a chance to role-model, teach, coach, inspire and empower people towards natural, optimal health – and I love it! I am passionate about what I call the “Chiropractic Lifestyle” (really just a healthy lifestyle) which recognises the importance of eating well, moving well and thinking well in order to be maximally healthy.
I am currently involved in teaching the Neuro-impulse Protocol (one of the many techniques within chiropractic) here in Europe. I have undertaken some post graduate training in paediatric chiropractic and I am also inspired by the work of Dr. James Chestnut in the area of the Science of Wellness.
I would love to have to opportunity to meet with you and other members of your family to see if chiropractic might be able to play a role in boosting your health for 2010 and beyond.
